On August 31st and September 1st, it’ll be fun for the whole family, and a purse of $1,900 to boot!

Local drivers can compete in two nights of fast-paced, noisy, exciting Nationwide Demolition Derbies at the Fair this year, and the winners have the option to go on to a higher level of earnings at the State Fair in October 2009. The State Fair of Virginia Demolition Derby Championships will be held Sunday, October 4th, with a purse of $1,900.

“This is a great opportunity for the local champions from our Nationwide Demolition Derbies at the Shenandoah County Fair. The champions at our Fair may go on to compete in the State Fair of Virginia Demolition Derby Championships,” says Fair Manager Marcy McCann.

“It was amazing to watch the men and women from all walks of life who participated last year. I’ve always wanted to drive in the demo derby, but have to admit that even watching was very exciting,” says McCann.

To register, drivers may stop by the fair office, NAPA Auto Parts in New Market and Front Royal, as well as Fisher Auto Parts in Luray.
