Tisinger inducted as judge in 26th Judicial Circuit in Shenandoah Valley

This past Monday afternoon, at 4 p.m. at the Circuit Court in Woodstock, VA, Amy B. Tisinger of Edinburg, VA, was inducted as a judge of the General District Court of the 26th Judicial Circuit in the Shenandoah Valley. Her term began on Wednesday, July 1. Ms. Tisinger is the first woman ever elected to serve on the General District Court bench in the 26th Judicial Circuit.
“Amy Tisinger is the most dedicated and hardest working public servant I have ever known, and she will make a great judge. I am delighted that she will be able to continue her service to the citizens of Virginia from the General District Court bench.” says Todd Gilbert, (R) Delegate, Virginia House of Representatives, from Woodstock.
A sixth-generation resident of Shenandoah County, Ms. Tisinger, 39, most recently served as the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for Shenandoah County for the past ten years. She is a graduate of Central High School in Woodstock where she was class valedictorian. She went on to earn the honor of being admitted to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society at the University of Virginia, graduating with distinction. She also received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Ms. Tisinger began her legal career as a general practitioner in the areas of criminal, civil and domestic relations law in the firm of Allen & Allen, P.C. in Woodstock. She is a past president of the Woodstock Rotary Club, past Secretary of the Woodstock Lions Club and presently serves as president of the Shenandoah County Bar Association. Ms. Tisinger has also served as special counsel to the Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury.
