We just want to say howdy!
…and Happy Independence Day

7 Bends of the Shenandoah Magazine and 7Bends.com will be out and about today and this weekend. Susan and I will be out distributing magazines, handshakes, goodwill and smiles all over the area – First stop, the Brycefest in Basye, Virginia (All-day family festival plus fireworks. Free admission. Free parking. Free entertainment. Children’s activities. Fire truck rides. Pony Rides. Vintage Car show. Live bands performing country, rock, and Americana music. Great picnic food including BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, kettle corn, funnel cakes and more. Over ninety Arts & Crafts booths. New Market Rebels baseball players. Airplane Rides. Fireworks at dusk from the ski slopes.)

We’re figuring on 12pm till about 2. Hope we see you there.

Then we’re off to a July 4th. gathering in New Market (Annual parade at 1pm, live music and dancing, food vendors, children activities – duck pond, dime pitch, moon bounce, and bingo and an auction. And don’t forget the fireworks! Directions: I-81 at Exit 264, New Market, east on Rt. 211, right at first traffic light to end of road. Activities held at the New Market Community Park.)

Stephens City’s theme for this July 4th is “A Community Celebration.” It will be held at Sherando Park from 4 to 10 p.m.

New this year: Family Time 4-7 p.m.
Special Children’s Singer / Songwriter
Games – Activities – Pool open until 7!

4 p.m.: Oh Susannah!
Oh Susannah, singer/songwriter Susan McNelis, performs for hundreds of delighted children and parents every week in the Mid-Atlantic region. Voted “Best for Families” by readers of Family Magazine.

6 p.m.: The Merge
The Merge performs classic party rock to make you move! Everything from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, The Eagles and even one hit wonders from the ’80s!

8 p.m.: The Dave Matthews Band Tribute: Crowded Streets!
Crowded Streets was formed in 2006 to cover one of the most popular artists of the 90’s as well as today, The Dave Matthews Band. The band is quickly being considered Northern VA’s premier live Dave Matthews Band experience. If you’re a fan of the original, you’ll not want to miss this group. The closest thing to seeing DMB themselves!

Fireworks will be at dusk. No pets are allowed in the concert area. No umbrellas or canopies. There will be vendors on hand with plenty of good food for purchase.

We’ll be ending up in Strasburg Park tonight, on a blanket, watching the show.

Here’s the info for everything the 4th for Strasburg, Virginia….

Time: 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Food Court, Children’s Amusement: Free
Pony Rides (small fee)
DJ Adam Funkhouser – tunes for all ages
Cruise In Cars

Time: 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks! Bring a blanket. Pool party from 10 to 11:15 p.m. at the Park Pool right there.

Well, we’re off on the road! Perhaps, we’ll run into you along the way.

Here’s to making sure we remain committed to our freedom – to protecting the nation of the people, by the people and for the people. For everything that America stands for today… hurrah!

    Aging rocker Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones was released on bail Thursday after being arrested for possible domestic assault. Wood, known for his stinging guitar riffs. In recent years he has also found some success as an artist, selling his paintings in numerous galleries.- Tiffany
