The Arabian Nights and Tropical Sunrise bras: Getting personal about breast cancer awareness

Woodstock, VA – The local Quota International chapter is at it again: giving to those around them. And, this time, they’re getting personal.
If you’re riding on Route 42 near Mount Jackson and Bryce Ski Resort, or browsing in shops at the Woodstock Shopping Center on Route 11, you’ll wonder if you’re seeing right. Are those bras hanging there?

Yep. They are, and they’re wonderfully decorated by Quota members. Each so unique, you’ll see the Arabian Nights bra, the Tropical Sunrise bra, and Jean Patsy’s Posies – to name a few. It’s all part of a breast cancer awareness program that the local Quota chapter has brought to Virginia.

Diana Scharf, the local Quota president explains: “It’s all to promote awareness of breast cancer. We had a speaker a few years ago that was a breast cancer survivor. As a result of that speaker, one of our members at the time began self-examinations which saved her life when she found a cancerous lump.
My daughter, Kristi, found out about this program that was first done by a Quota club in Australia. We thought it sounded like a fun way to create a small donation for cancer research and to get the word out about Quota. In addition to the bras are on display at On Second Thought, a popular re-sale shop in Woodstock, some are also hung on my pasture fence which is located on Route 42 near Hudson’s Crossroads.”
People can vote for their favorite decorated bra at On Second Thought with a $1.00 donation to breast cancer research.
The Quota group also has two other upcoming events. This Saturday, November 7, they’ll be selling chicken at Wholesome Foods, located at 986 South Ox Road, in Edinburg, Virginia. The chicken will be ready at 9:30 a.m. In addition, they’ll have a booth at the Woodstock Hospital Bazaar on November 14 and will be selling their annual landmark brass ornaments.
