Sweet aroma: “Taste of the Town” monies go to medical care for needy, unemployed

Front Royal – Without further ado… Here’s the story brought to light, in full living color.
This past Thursday night, a group of folks got together at the Shenandoah Valley Country Club for “Taste of the Town,” a fund raising effort for the Free Clinic of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

A significant amount of money was raised – energy – to help those who cannot afford to pay for medical coverage. Many Northern Shenandoah Valley restaurants, wine shops, dessert makers, and volunteers all pitched in to help. And many vendors gave items to have auctioned off for the cause.

One of the main points emphasized by organizers, many of whom are doctors and their spouses was this: The needy and poor now have more company. Given our economy, the unemployed – many of whom have had insurance coverage for years – are now joining the ranks of those without medical care. There must be alternatives for people.

It was a honor to be there covering the event. Thanks, Mary. 7Bends will provide updates to this article – covering the good that will come from the funds raised on others’ behalf.

(Note: No names are mentioned in the photo captions here because as we all can agree, it’s really the people who are helped who are the stars. In future installments of this story, we’ll look to show 7Bends visitors the ways in which people are being helped at the Free Clinic, and how you can join the effort, if you wish.)
