Gifts that save the day in Shenandoah County, VA

Woodstock, VA—The Shenandoah County Chapter is delighted to announce “Gifts That Save the Day,” the 2009 American Red Cross holiday giving campaign that inspires people to make a gift that can save the day for those in need. An exciting part of the campaign is the introduction of our first-ever online Holiday Gift Catalog.
In this season of hope and in these economic times, more than ever, people want their gifts to really matter. Research on donor views in a down economy shows that about half the public say they would be more likely to give a charitable gift than a holiday present. And more than four out of five people would prefer to receive a meaningful gift that would help someone else instead of a traditional holiday gift.
Our new gift catalog enables people to make a donation that could provide food, shelter and comfort to disaster victims, vaccinate a child in a remote village or connect the family of a military service member with their loved one overseas.
These gifts will provide comfort and hope to people who need them, when they need them most—all in the name of your friend or loved one.
After you’ve purchased an item, you can select an e-card that you can send to your loved one. You’ll also receive a complimentary print card by mail, which you can personalize with a message about the gift you have given in their honor.
The gift catalog is available in the Red Cross office at 103 S. Main Street in Woodstock, Va, and is now posted on the Chapter’s website. Their local phone is (540)459-2913.
History has proven that when Americans are in need, America responds. We are confident that this holiday giving season will be no different.
