Fishersville, VA – The Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro (SAW) Locality Team for “Smart Beginnings Shenandoah Valley” will be introducing its mission and local plans at a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, January 26, at the Augusta Health Community Care Building in Fishersville, Virginia from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

“We look forward to introducing the SAW Locality Team’s plans for the coming year to business and community leaders for our region,” stated Andrea Riegel, Team Chair. “By the time a child reaches age five, 90 percent of their brain is developed. It is our Team’s goal to make sure every child in this region has a good start for their education and health.”

The meeting will consist of presentations from SAW Locality Team members regarding the results of a recent study completed by Smart Beginnings Shenandoah Valley focused on identifying the services needed, or gaps in services currently provided in the area related to early childhood development. In addition, the Team’s plans for the coming year will be detailed, and questions will be addressed by those attending.

The Shenandoah Valley Smart Beginnings has been sponsored by for the past year through a grant from the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation and other local partners, including DuPont Community Credit Union,  AHC Community Health Foundation,  Greater Augusta Child Care Providers, and the United Way of Greater Augusta.
