Deadline approaches for new “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” Guide

Shenandoah Valley, VA – The Northwest District Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension made two announcements this week:
First, they remind folks that it’s time for the yearly request for farmers, food producers, restaurants, wineries, pick- your-own operations, farmers markets, CSA’s, farm stands, grocers, retailers, and co-ops to contact “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” to be part of the 2010 Shenandoah Valley printed Guidebook.
Those interested can go to the Extension web site and fill out a brief registration form, or can call Theresa Ulmer,in the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Harrisonburg, Virginia at (540) 432-6029.
Second, they’ve set the dates for their ten-week Master Gardener course. It will be starting in early February. Classes will be held at the Shenandoah Government Center in Woodstock, VA on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Anyone that would like to become a Master Gardener, can call the Extension Office at (540) 459-6140. Master Gardeners are volunteer educators within the community who serve the public by assisting local Extension Agents to provide sound and practical gardening information to area property and homeowners.
