Horse and fair lovers unite! There’s a big community project going on this Sunday at noon in Woodstock – and, it’s for the animals. This time, it’s for our equine friends. The Shenandoah County Fair invites those who want to help to come on out… and paint the fence around the horse arena at the Fairgrounds this Sunday, May 31 at noon.
Three local area groups that use the arena throughout the year are spearheading the improvement project: the Shenandoah County 4H Silver Spurs, the Shenandoah Valley Dressage Association and the Old Dominion Gaited Horse Association.
“This is a great event for those who love horses, and who love the Fair, to lend a hand, and get involved, says Marcy McCann, Interim Fair Manager. “We’re looking for young and old alike to help make a difference …and have fun in the process.”
A number of other businesses and organizations are donating time and supplies. The fair is donating the paint and brushes. Anderson’s Painting and Sandblasting of Strasburg already has sandblasted the fence; it’s prepped and ready to go. Dominos in Woodstock is donating eight pizzas to feed the crew, and 7Bends.com is donating bottled water for all those who thirst.
McCann says that they are expecting between 30 to 50 volunteers. “This is a great opportunity for individuals and families to see some beautiful horses up close and personal, and to learn about how to support the equine community across our County,” remarks McCann.
“Even if you’re getting older in life, doing something new, like learning to ride a horse, or broadening your world by meeting new people, is what it’s all about. No one is too old to try something new.”
Everyone who attends will also be entered into a drawing to win a limited edition print – courtesy of LtdPrints.com, a high-quality custom poster and mural company that just opened at in Strasburg.
The sepia-tone print, aptly named “Morning Mist,” features a grazing horse on a country farm. Come to the horse arena on the east end of the Fairgrounds at noon this Sunday to join in the action.

Contrary to popular belief, 7Bends.com is not just another web presence that started out with a BANG, and ended with nary a whimper… The entire crew at 7Bends (along with as many friends, relatives and passers-by that we could rope in,)  has been busily preparing the inaugural issue of our premier print publication, ‘7Bends – The Magazine‘,  and quite frankly, no one has had the energy to write too much of anything on the web site lately.

Let me add one small proviso to the aforementioned statement, our Business Matchmaker – CEO, Managing Editor, Marketing Strategist, part-time Design Consultant…, (and she makes a mean cup of coffee too folks,) Susan Thompson (aka, SurfsongUSA) has been writing day and night,  providing content, as well as much of the incidental accoutrement that goes into the making of a magazine. All those little things, like tables of content, publishers credits, contact information, etc. that no one really gives much thought to – till you go to look for them.

The 7Bends magazine is envisioned to inform, entertain, enlighten, and hopefully amuse local residents and visitors alike, while providing a vehicle to promote Valley Business’ to highly targeted populations in neighboring regions, first and foremost the Washington D.C. corridors, beginning with the Leesburg, Reston and Fairfax areas. Through careful  targeting of distribution points and methodologies, spearheaded by our top-notch distribution team, 7Bends will be placed in the hands of those most likely to be in the market for the goods and services our advertisers have to offer.

Rounding out the key-players list is Juanita White, Creative Director and for the rest of the weekend, lay-out person, extraordinaire for the magazine, making sure all the pieces fit and come out right-side-up, (not inside-out), and on the right page.
